La Cicala e la Formica is a restaurant in the historic center of Rome, Rione Monti, the oldest neighborhood, today the fulcrum of a new cultural and artistic ferment season. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and has an outdoor area where you can have a meal or a drink and an interior with 36 seats. Its environment is informal and friendly and the feeling is to enter a family dining room. The cuisine is typical and regional, with homemade pasta, bread and cakes with the flavor of the dishes from our childhood. Lunigiana has a place of honor in this kitchen where you can taste some typical products of the tradition as lunigianense testaroli al pesto.
Our restaurant offers a regional roman cuisine, but we also selected the best typical dishes from other regions like Umbria and Tuscany, with influences from the southern regions, mainly Campania and Puglia. We like to refer to it as a Mediterranean regional cuisine. La Cicala e la Formica only works with products of absolute genuineness, favoring those that are in season. Our daily menu offers tasty and original dishes with tradition, and many products are home made. We produce on our own bread, egg-made pasta (including ravioli) and all desserts. Our Carta dei Dolci (Dessert Menu), changes every day, with a variety that will please even the most exigent guest.
The kitchen is opened for: lunch from 12.30 – 15.00 dinner from 18.30 – 23.00
For a coffee or a drink we are open all day.
La Cicala e la Formica is a cozy restaurant that offer 36 seats indoors, with air conditioning, and 15 in the delightful dehors, framed by green, used during spring and summers. We are open all year long except a period of two weeks of vacation during August.
Music, themed dinners, exhibitions, courses of cuisine
Rome is an open-air museum and we also want to give our customers the opportunity to combine the experience of food with the enjoyment of art in its many forms of expression. Each month we host artists who exhibit their work, invite musicians to play their music, call expert wine growers to describe their wines and offer regional cuisines for the most curious palates.
